Matthew 16:13-16
Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?” And they said, “Some say John the Baptist, others say Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
Jesus asked this question after asking his disciples who the people say that he is. Peter, the most outspoken of the disciples, confessed that he is the Christ. The Son of the living God.
There comes a point in our life when Jesus asks us that very same question. The world will also ask you the question. “Who do you say Jesus is?” Same may be tempted to give an answer something that would make Jesus more palatable to their listener to appeal to our pluralistic society, where everyone’s way is right and it is intolerant to say otherwise.
However, following Christ requires you to answer the same question as his disciples. It is not asked who you say he is to you, but who do you say that He is full stop. He is the radiance of the Living God?
Do not be afraid to profess Jesus and that He is God incarnate.
